What are cyclodextrins?
They are a family of cyclic oligosaccharides, consisting of a macrocyclic ring of glucose subunits joined by α-1,4 glycosidic bonds. The number of glucose monomers can range from six to eight (α, β, γ) creating a cone shape. Due to their structure, which is hydrophilic outside and hydrophobic inside, they can complex various molecules and alter their physicochemical properties, such as
