Description

LYCAGEL™ is a strong, high-performing veggie softgel system derived from pea starch technology.

As well as offering softgel manufacturers a high-quality plant-based alternative to gelatin, LYCAGEL™ softgel capsules exhibit advanced characteristics with promising possibilities for expanded applications. The solution is also easily adapted to existing gelatin processes, with only minimal adjustments to standard equipment required.

Roquette’s LYCAGEL™ technology enables the development of softgel capsules with advanced performance characteristics, including excellent film-forming properties, easy drying with no stickiness and low viscosity as a component.

Comprising pea starch; carrageenan – a setting agent sourced from marine macro algae; NEOSORB® sorbitol – a plant-based ingredient suitable for nutraceutical application; and Na+ (salt) – a jellifying agent; Roquette’s LYCAGEL™ system offers a plant-based solution suitable for both nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications that meets EU and US pharmacopeia standards.
