List of Microcrystalline Cellulose Products and Manufacturers

Discovered in 1955, the excipient microcrystalline cellulose is the most commonly used binder on the pharmaceutical market. It’s popularity comes from its versatility and a huge range of applications. It can bulk, disintegrate, bind, and lubricate. It enhances stability and extends drug release. As a natural, fibre-rich component, it’s nontoxic and chewable. It’s also a favourite among dissolvable drug manufacturers. It’s carved a space for itself as an excipient in both the supplement industry and the potent drug delivery niche. Its scope is not limited to capsules and tablets. It’s used in medicated gels, as well.

CEOLUS® KG-802Microcrystalline Cellulose500.212.0-6.0The key to the compactibility of the CEOLUS KG grades lies in their needle-like particle shape. Needle-like particles, once compressed, have less elastic recovery and moreparticle-to-particle entanglements to provide greater tablet hardness.Asahi Kasei
CEOLUS® KG-1000Microcrystalline Cellulose500.122.0-6.0KG-1000, offers practically required tablet hardness and friability at concentrations of 10% or less.Asahi Kasei
CEOLUS® PH-101Microcrystalline Cellulose500.292.0-5.0Standard grade. Most widely used for wet granulation tableting.Asahi Kasei
CEOLUS® PH-102Microcrystalline Cellulose900.302.0-5.0Larger particle size. Improved flow while maintaining compactibility and distintegration properties similar to PH-101. Used mostly for direct compression tableting.Asahi Kasei
