Vitafoods Europe: Clean Label Alliance – Probiotics – CBD

Vitafoods 2019 brought together over 22.000 visitors from more than 110 countries with over 1.200 exhibitors to exchange 3 days on how to “Shape the food industry for optimal health through science and innovation”, solutions and science for the nutraceutical industry.

From an excipients and formulation perspective, three topics were surely of interest: Clean Label Alliance, Probiotics and CBD

The members of the Clean Label Alliance such as Biogrund, Capsugel / Lonza and Ribus informed about the reason and activity of the Alliance:

The Clean Label Alliance was developed out of the increasing demand from consumers for cleaner labels on dietary supplements. Savvy consumers have made the connection between food as nutrition and dietary supplements as nutrition, and desire the same clean label as they have for food with dietary supplements.

On the formulation side the topic of probiotics and to ensure best efficiency by protection of the gastric juices has been an upcoming topic. Not comparable with the huge wave of CBD, Cannabis and Medicinal Cannabis products and the presentation thereof. The search on more innovative dosage forms away from the oils and softgel capsules was eminent there.
