Join our inspiring expert talk on Trehalose Enhances Removal:
Description:
In this study, adding trehalose during CHO cell harvest resulted in lower conductivity of the culture fluid and reduced host cell protein (HCP) levels in the clarified filtrate.
These benefits were demonstrated using both diatomaceous earth filtration and chromatographic clarification with the 3M™ Harvest RC system. This approach offers a novel and practical strategy to minimize impurity carryover into downstream purification, improving overall process efficiency and antibody yield.
Key Learnings:
- Trehalose protects CHO cells, helping prevent the release of host cell–derived impurities.
- Lower culture supernatant conductivity enhances clarification performance
- Reduced HCP levels following clarification
- Improved antibody recovery during Protein A purification
