The oral hygiene market is experiencing rapid evolution, driven by increased consumer awareness, demand for gentle and effective products, and a rising emphasis on sustainability. Adinol™ CT95 is a biodegradable anionic surfactant derived from coconut oil and the sodium salt of N-methyl taurine. Known for its mildness and versatility, it is ideal for oral care applications.

  • Mild on skin and mucosal – well tolerated, even in sensitive skin or oral mucosa applications

Adinol™ CT95

Mild anionic surfactant with excellent wetting and foam production properties. The functionality of the product makes it useful in cleansing formulations. Chemically stable in the presence of acids, alkalis and metal ions such as strontium, making it suitable for gum sensitive toothpastes. Recommended topical usage levels of 1-10%.

Formulating sulphate-free toothpaste presents multiple technical hurdles, particularly when aiming to replace sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), a widely used surfactant known for its foaming and cleansing properties. Key requirements include identifying a surfactant that offers high foam generation, minimal sensory impact (taste), effective cleansing, and is deliverable in a low water, high active format to ensure formulation stability and concentration. Adinol™ CT95, a high-purity (95% active) sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, successfully addresses these challenges.

It delivers robust foaming performance, a low off-taste profile, and maintains excellent compatibility with ionic actives. Notably, its molecular structure resists chelation with metal ions such as strontium, commonly incorporated in dentifrice formulations targeting dentin hypersensitivity. This enables formulators to meet growing consumer and regulatory demands for sulphate-free claims without compromising on efficacy or sensory experience.
